About The Artist

Roger Langford

Roger Langford (1943–2025) was a renowned American Western artist and sculptor, widely recognized as the official artist of the Texas Rodeo Cowboy Hall of Fame. His work authentically captured the spirit and action of the American rodeo and cowboy life, drawing on his extensive personal experience as a ranch hand and professional rodeo competitor. Langford was an illustrator for “True West” & “Old West” magazines. He designed shirts for Wrangler and painted for several world champion cowboys.  Roger was inducted into the Texas Rodeo Cowboy Hall of Fame in 2005. He was also on the ballot for induction into the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Hall of Fame in 2003. His murals adorn the walls of many ranch homes and businesses, including Teskey’s in Weatherford, Texas. One wall is a 30’ x 80’ magnificent panoramic cattle drive. In 2012, he was named an honorary lifetime member at the Texas Cowboy Reunion Museum in Stamford, Texas, where his art is on display.

Roger competed in countless rodeos as a young man. After his bull riding days, he worked for the Steiner Rodeo Company as livestock foreman, flank man, and pickup man. He possessed notable artistic talent, yet he took the greatest pride in his role as a cowboy. He loved the community that included farmers, ranchers and all the men and women that embodied the preservation of rodeo life. That was where his heart was, and his artwork was born from that same love. His artistic contributions have become a legacy of timeless narratives, ensuring that his stories and the spirit of the Cowboy Way endure for generations to come.
